Nativa Silkpad, the new 100% recycled insulation

Nativa Silkpad is the new 100% recycled insulation that has the extraordinary ability to keep warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather.

Silk has a smooth, soft texture that is not slippery, unlike many synthetic fibers. Silk’s absorbency makes it comfortable to wear in warm weather and during sport performances. Its low conductivity keeps warm air close to the skin during cold weather.

Silk’s part is composed by pre-consumer yarn’s wastes – these come from the end of cones which are discarded during the production of noble pure silk fabrics. The cones are recovered and the part of pure silk is removed and then degummed.

Degumming, when done properly through the use of soap solutions, first of all that of Marseille, gives the fiber an incomparable brightness and brilliance. Fibroin, which corresponds to 75% of the yarn, is finally mixed with GRS certified recycled polyester flakes.

GRS - Global Recycled Standard is an holistic certification for products with recycled contents. The GRS is promoted by Textile Exchange, one of the most important no-profitorganization that promotes international responsible and sustainable development in the textile industry. With this standard, Textile Exchange acknowledges the crucial importance of recycling for the growth of a sustainable production and consumption model; it aims to encourage the reduction of resource consumption (virgin raw materials, water and energy) and to increase the quality of recycled products.
