Wool is the perfect padding thanks to its outstanding thermal properties and excellent climate control. Our TirolWool comes from mountain sheep raised in South Tirol (Brillenschafe) and Austrian Tirol (Bergschafe), where the fiber has been used to make warm clothing for many centuries.
Tirolean Bergschafe have distinctive narrow faces and long ears, spend the summer grazing at about 2,000 metres and produce a medium-fine wool.
The Brillenschaf is the oldest breed in South Tirol and has black patches around the eyes that give it its name (Brillen is German for glasses). It provides a very soft wool that is ideal for warm winter clothing.
We are committed to supporting our regional economy by using this local high-alpine wool and paying a fair price to farmers.
TirolWool is washed, combed and treated for washability in northern Italy (Biella) to reduce transport and CO₂ emissions and guarantee high standards. This wool offers:
outstanding natural warmth
breathability
thermal regulation
odour management
insulation even when wet.
