Tirol Wool: the wool that offers warmth, breathability and insulation
Wool is the perfect fabric for thermal insulation thanks to its exceptional thermal properties and excellent climate control.
Our TirolWool comes from mountain sheep reared in South Tyrol (Brillenschafe) and Austrian Tyrol (Bergschafe) where they have been used to make warm clothing for many centuries.
Tyrolean mountain sheep spend the summer grazing at about 2,000 meters above sea level, between the Kitzbühel, Oetztal and Zillertal Alps, eating only the best forage. The healthy air, abundant nutrition and fresh water of the Tyrolean mountains favor the good health of the animals necessary for the need to survive in a climate that is sometimes very hostile. When the grazing season ends, the sheep are welcomed into the stables, created for them with pre-established standards. The shearing of the animals takes place twice a year at an interval of six months; the first during the winter season when the sheep are in the stables and the second in the summer, in the pastures.
The good treatment of the animals allows the development of a high quality wool characterized by a fleece of long and slightly wavy fibers, which is robust and soft at the same time.
Trough the special Oxy-wash treatment the scales of the wool are eliminated without damaging the structure of the fibers. Thanks to its eco-friendly process the fiber of the fine Tyrolean mountain's sheep's wool becomes soft, odourless, hygroscopic and breathable.
This wool offers
- outstanding natural warmth
